These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ShoeCompass ("the Service," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using ShoeCompass in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What ShoeCompass Is

ShoeCompass is an AI-powered shoe recommendation service. You describe what you're looking for — an occasion, activity, style, budget, or any other preference — and our AI concierge suggests footwear options with links to purchase them. ShoeCompass is designed to help you discover shoes you'll love, faster.

ShoeCompass is not a retailer. We do not sell, ship, or take responsibility for any products. All purchases are made directly through third-party retailers such as Amazon.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ShoeCompass. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

3. Your Account

To access certain features, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Notifying us immediately at hello@shoecompass.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

You may only create one account per person. Accounts are non-transferable.

4. Affiliate Disclosure

ShoeCompass participates in the Amazon Associates Program and may participate in other affiliate programs. When you click a product link in a ShoeCompass recommendation and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Our recommendations are generated by AI based on your search criteria. Affiliate relationships do not influence which products are recommended — we don't hand-pick results or prioritize higher-commission products. The AI selects based on relevance to your request.

5. AI Recommendations — Important Limitations

ShoeCompass uses artificial intelligence to generate shoe recommendations. Please understand the following:

• Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees. The AI makes its best effort to match your needs, but individual fit, comfort, and satisfaction vary. Always check sizing guides and reviews before purchasing.
• Product information may be outdated. Prices, availability, colorways, and product specifications change frequently. Always verify current details on the retailer's website before making a purchase decision.
• We are not responsible for third-party products. ShoeCompass is not liable for the quality, safety, durability, or suitability of any recommended products. Any issues with a purchase should be directed to the retailer.
• Medical foot conditions. While ShoeCompass can take foot conditions into account when making recommendations, our suggestions are not medical advice. If you have a serious foot condition, injury, or medical need, please consult a qualified healthcare professional (such as a podiatrist) before making footwear decisions.
• AI limitations. Like all AI systems, ShoeCompass may occasionally make mistakes, misunderstand requests, or produce imperfect results. We continuously work to improve quality but cannot guarantee accuracy in all cases.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use ShoeCompass only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its related systems
• Reverse engineer, scrape, copy, or reproduce any part of the Service without our written permission
• Use automated bots, scrapers, or scripts to interact with the Service
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
• Submit false, misleading, or harmful content
• Upload images that are inappropriate, explicit, offensive, or unrelated to footwear or clothing. ShoeCompass's photo feature is designed for outfit and shoe images only.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any related systems

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines without prior notice.

7. Intellectual Property

ShoeCompass and its original content, features, and functionality — including the ShoeCompass name, logo, design, and code — are owned by ShoeCompass and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

The AI-generated responses produced by ShoeCompass are provided to you for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit AI-generated content from ShoeCompass without our permission.

You retain ownership of any content you provide to ShoeCompass (such as your profile information, conversation messages, and any photos you upload). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use that content solely to operate and provide the Service. Photos uploaded through ShoeCompass are processed in real time to generate recommendations and are not stored on our servers.

8. Privacy

Your use of ShoeCompass is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our data practices.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

ShoeCompass contains links to third-party websites and services, including retailers like Amazon. These links are provided for your convenience. We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third-party sites. Accessing third-party sites through ShoeCompass is at your own risk, and we encourage you to review their respective terms and privacy policies.

10. Disclaimers

ShoeCompass is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
• AI recommendations will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific needs
• Any product links will remain active or available
• The Service is free of viruses or other harmful components

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ShoeCompass and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

• Purchases made based on AI recommendations
• Loss of data or account access
• Any errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content
• Any interruption or unavailability of the Service

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, since ShoeCompass is currently free, is $0).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ShoeCompass and its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

13. Termination

By you: You may stop using ShoeCompass and delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Deleting your account permanently removes all your personal data.

By us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to ShoeCompass at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of ShoeCompass after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, please stop using the Service and delete your account.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ShoeCompass shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of the United States, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ShoeCompass regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
